Let’s talk wedding hair! Make sure to consult your stylist on what hairstyle is the best fit for your color, texture, and face shape! Lastly, consider your dress and your venue as well. In the words of Carrie Goldberg, the real weddings editor from Harper’s Bazaar, “does the carpet match the drapes?” If you’ve planned a beautiful al fresco wedding and are wearing an off shoulder dress, consider a romantic half-up style with curls. Likewise, if you’re wearing a modern cut dress for a hotel wedding, a french chignon would look incredible. For some wedding hair inspiration, look no further. These are a few of my lovely brides and the way they did their hair was absolutely perfect.
Brandi had a Gatsby, 20’s inspired wedding, so this hairstyle and her brooch fit the vibe exactly. Having all her hair down was perfect for showcasing her thick, flowing locks. Her layers and the way the front of her hair was curled allowed her earrings to still be seen. You look absolutely stunning, Brandi!
2. Morgan D.
Morgan actually ended up going with a different style for her wedding day, but I absolutely loved her dutch braid for her bridal session! She got married at the french inspired venue Ma Maison, so the unique dutch braid style fit right now. I also loved how having her hair up allowed her to show off the back of her dress. There were just enough “wisps” to really give a romantic vibe. I wouldn’t recommend this style for super dark hair, as the beauty of it is in being able to discern the detail of the braid – but this looks so lovely on hair colors with highlights, or overall lighter colors. Congratulations, Morgan! You looked so beautiful.
Elizabeth’s intricate fishtail braid was SO incredible to photograph. The variety in her haircolor showed off the detail of the braid beautifully. We shot her bridal session at Laguna Gloria in Austin, which offered a very romantic, breezy backdrop. She recreated the style for her wedding day in the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and it looked just as stunning. I love this style because it allowed her to have her hair “down” but still securely styled and out of the way in case of wind. Liz – you were so gorgeous!
4. Morgan C.
Morgan’s hair is very fine, much like my own! Because of this, she opted for an updo style that she knew would stay in place all day and be a secure anchor for her veil, which she wore for the ceremony. I loved her classic choice of a low bun with a few wisps in front for added romance. This also allowed everyone to see the beautiful straps on her back, which was such a beautiful detail of her dress. You were such a vision, Morgan!
Bekah had alllll the things going on with her hair, which I thought was so cool! Hair down in front, fishtail braid in the back, a floral detail and also a veil for the ceremony. It was such a good choice for her personality, her dress, and the romantic atmosphere of her wedding. The highlighted color of her hair gave her style so much depth and texture so that not a single detail was lost. I can’t believe how stunning you were, Bekah!
I need to give my ladies with short hair some love! Laura’s hair was absolutely adorable and fit her classic Texas bridal look so well. She got married at the botanical gardens, which tied in the floral detail she wore in the back. You were so pretty, Laura!
